The Unitarian Universalist Society of Grafton & Upton (UUSGU) is seeking a
Communications and Office Assistant
​
Purpose
Based on the seven Unitarian Universalist principles, the Communications and Office Assistant provides administrative support to the congregation, and, along with the church leadership team, gives voice to the activities and programs of UUSGU.
​
Responsibilities
The Communications and Office Assistant has the following responsibilities:
Office administration
-
provides typing, copying, and mailing services for the Minister and committee chairs
-
maintains a calendar of church activities and programs
-
manages office procedures
-
manages incoming and outgoing mail correspondence
-
manages office equipment and supplies
-
pays bills, makes bank deposits, and bookkeeping entries
-
maintains membership directory, database, and pledge records
-
maintains church policies
-
administers the retirement plan and staff records
-
receives church visitors

Communication
-
communicates the programs and activities of UUSGU to members and outside audiences through the church website (uusgu.org), social media, print, direct mail, and other media outlets
-
prepares and distributes newsletters, email correspondence, Sunday bulletins, announcements, the annual report, press releases, flyers, posters, ads, and other marketing material as directed by the minister and committee chairs

Building management
-
schedules building use, including key distribution
-
manages rental agreements
-
manages records of building and grounds resources, and alarm codes
​
Community participation
-
staff meetings
-
individual meetings with the Minister
-
periodic meetings of the Committee Council
-
occasional Sunday worship services, other meetings, and church-wide events
​
Required Skills, Qualifications and Personal Attributes
-
personal alignment with Unitarian Universalist principles and values
-
a bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience
-
self-starter, capable of working with minimal supervision
-
excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
-
excellent organizational, time management, and analytical skills
-
experience with Google applications and Facebook
-
experience with Microsoft Office, database management, and graphic design software
-
exposure to WordStream, Mailchimp, and SignUpGenius
-
experience with office equipment, purchasing, and bookkeeping

Desired Skills and Qualifications
-
a bachelors degree in business administration, marketing, or graphic design
-
experience developing marketing materials - flyers, posters, ads, and press releases
-
an interest in photography
​
Time Requirements
This is a half-time, 48 weeks per year position (20 hours per week)
The position reports to the Minister, as a supervised member of staff
​
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation: Within UUA Fair Compensation Guidelines for a half-time position.
