An Eighth UU Principle, Perhaps? with Rev. Daniel Gregoire (Special Interactive Service begins on Facebook Live and end
Time & Location
About the Event
To heal the wounds of racism within our Unitarian Universalist faith tradition, and by extension society as a whole, some UU have recently proposed adding to our Seven Principles, an eighth one that reads:
“Journeying toward spiritual wholeness by working to build a diverse multicultural Beloved Community by our actions that accountably dismantle racism and other oppressions in ourselves and our institutions.”
This is a remarkable change, and it will require the vote of a supermajority of UUs come into effect at a future General Assembly. All of this comes at a time of heightened national conversation (some might say reckoning) about race, racism and reconciliation. To learn more about the 8th Principle visit. Rev. Daniel will share his thoughts on the change and then invite you to share yours!
Join us for this special worship service where we will begin on Facebook Live and then in the middle of the service we will transition to the Zoom format where we will then see each other as we break out into discussion “rooms”, to connect and share our thoughts on this proposed change using reflections and guided questions. Join us for this unique experience of community online.
